Bob Bregy, former High School District 211 mail room supervisor and now retiree, was the March 2012 recipient of Northwest Suburban Special Education Organization's Shining Star Award. He was recognized for going above and beyond in his role as a community partner at a NSSEO work experience site. Bregy has welcomed District 211 students who attend Kirk School into the Administration Center mail room throughout the past three years. Modifying old habits takes time to get used to and might not be immediately noticeable, but thanks to the efforts from District 211 faculty, staff, and students, tiny changes have amounted to something huge. Since 2004, there has been close to $8 million in savings for electricity, heating, and cooling costs district-wide. When arguing points about pressing issues, such as politics or foreign policy, it’s not often students imagine creating history at their school. But that’s exactly what students at Schaumburg High School did as they debated their way to victory. The SHS Debate Team captured the Illinois High School Association State Debate Title during competition at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Ill., on March 16 and 17. Township High School District 211 was recognized with a "Sunny Award" from the Sunshine Review on March 8, 2012.  The award honors the most transparent government web sites in the country, and District 211 was one of 19 honorees in Illinois, which included 7 school districts.  This is the second consecutive year that District 211 has been honored with the award. “The Sunny Awards recognizes governments that are doing an exemplary job at proactively disclosing information to taxpayers,” said Michael Barnhart, president of Sunshine Review in an online posting. ...
