FHS Students Receive Free HCM Cardiac Screen

Students at Fremd High School participated in an event that could potentially save a life. Fremd High School offered free cardiac screenings for more than 1,680 students on Dec. 8. The screen was for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), a genetic heart condition that causes an excessive thickening of the heart and is the leading cause of sudden cardiac arrest in young people. “The test was very short, easy, and painless,” said Ian Wojciak, a Fremd High School senior and baseball player that participated in the screen. Fremd Viking Booster Club to Host Dec. 10 Holiday Craft Fair

The Fremd Viking Booster Club will host a Holiday Craft Fair on Dec. 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The fair will be located at Fremd High School, 1000 S. Quentin Rd., in Palatine. Admission and parking are free. Palatine, Fremd, and Schaumburg High Schools will host Halloween events that are open to the community. The Fremd Student Council is inviting students ages 12 and under and parents to attend the annual Halloween Festival held at Fremd High School on Oct. 26 from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. The school has been transformed for a fun night of trick-or-treating with games, toys, and candy. A guest speaker at Fremd High School helped students connect math to music, cooking, and several other aspects of daily life. This September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and students at Fremd High School are participating in events to promote resources and awareness about the issue. Important District 211 Calendar Dates for 2016-2017 Academic Year

August 15th is the First Day of School
  In order to maximize the value of each instructional day, District 211 adopted a collegiate-style calendar, which will take effect after a shortened summer with the 2016-2017 school year. With the new calendar, first semester, including final exams, will end in December before students leave for winter break, and the school year will conclude, including final exams, prior to Memorial Day.
