Students in District 211’s Certified Nursing Assistant Program have recently earned credentials that can help start their careers.
A total of 109 District 211 students, including 65 from Conant, Hoffman, and Schaumburg High Schools and 44 from Palatine and Fremd High Schools, passed the state exam to become Certified Nursing Assistants.

Yesterday, District 211 schools participated in Red Nose Day to raise funds for children in poverty. Students at both Schaumburg and Hoffman Estates High Schools created campaigns and fundraised. Student Council at SHS was in charge for Red Nose Day. The students sold Red Noses for $1 and t-shirts for $10. Additionally they encouraged all staff to wear red noses. All the money raised from the nose and t-shirt sales will go to RedNoseDay.org. Chuck Abbott has been named varsity head baseball coach at Hoffman Estates High School, effective with the 2017 season. Abbott, who is currently an assistant coach, will replace Todd Meador at the helm of the Hawks’ baseball program. Meador entered the spring 2016 season as the winningest coach in Hoffman Estates High School history with 233 wins spanning 17 years as head baseball coach. He is stepping down after the 2016 season in order to spend more time with his family.

Hoffman Estates High School was recently recognized as a Project Unify Champion School because of the involvement of students and coaches with the Illinois Special Olympics program.

Hoffman Estates High School has earned the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Energy Star Certification for its building. The accomplishment will be recognized by the Board of Education at its April 14 meeting.
“Through communicating energy-efficient strategies and teamwork, HEHS achieved the award for the first time in the building’s history,” said Nicholas Jahnke, facilities engineer at District 211. “Since 2010, HEHS has increased their energy-efficiency each year by monitoring building usage patterns and implementing cost saving measures.”

Alexa Rodheim-Cutler, Hoffman Estates High School Class of 2004, was diagnosed with cancer two years ago and has been fighting ever since. Sadly, Alexa’s situation is grave and she entered hospice over the past weekend.
