D211 Post: Community Education Session on Mental Health Awareness is December 12
Township High School District 211 will be hosting a community education session focusing on mental health awareness at the William Fremd High School library on Dec. 12, beginning at 7:00 p.m. The session is free and open to parents and community members.
Adolescents are faced with academic and social pressure daily. Balancing emotional health and mental wellness with the demands and stress associated with being an adolescent can be a challenge for many of our students.
Representatives from Northwestern Community Hospital and Linden Oaks Behavioral Health Department will discuss current trends regarding teens and mental health. They will also discuss the continuum of signs and symptoms of anxiety and depression. Presenters will also provide tools for parents on how to initiate the conversation regarding wellness and mental health with their adolescents.
Community education is important to District 211, and involvement will help our students strengthen our commitment to serve all students.
