Junior Morgan Miller and Senior Tiffanie Bohrer, both members of Fremd High School’s National Honor Society, sort gifts during their annual Grant-A-Wish gift drive Dec. 11.

Students and advisors from Fremd High School’s National Honor Society (NHS) delivered more than 350 gifts to children at It Takes a Village Head Start Learning Center in Chicago, Dec. 12.  The event is a long-standing holiday tradition of the service based organization.

“One of the pillars of NHS is service,” said Jessica Monticello, NHS advisor.  “This is a great way to uphold that pillar, but it is also a great experience for the kids.”

Junior Maegan Jong directs fellow students where to stack gifts during the Grant-A-Wish present collection at Fremd High School Dec. 11.

Dec. 11, NHS collected gifts from students and staff from the school, and sorted them for delivery.  Once collection was complete, the gifts were loaded into a truck for delivery.

For junior and NHS member Morgan Miller, this was a way to do something good during something she enjoys.

“I love Christmas,” said Miller.  “I enjoy buying the gifts while imagining how happy the kid receiving it will be.”

After the gifts were distributed, NHS members  read stories and played with the children.
