Students with William Fremd High School’s Independent Study Culinary Arts and the Culinary Club have established the school’s first student run morning café named the Nordic Café.

Family and Consumer Science Department chair Christina Parsons said the name for the café as well as logo were designed by students within the Culinary Club.

“The Independent Study students were very creative with the opening of the café,” she said.  “Eugene Lee came up with the marketing design and logo and Olivia Calas came up with the name.”

Parsons said students in the independent study prepare all food sold in the café and begin planning at the start of the week.  The previous week’s menu included pumpkin flavored food and drink to coincide with the autumn season.  The café staff plans to rotate menu items with the changing seasons.

Nordic Cafe will be open before school alternating Fridays through the duration of the semester.
