Representatives from the Hoffman Estates Fire Department, Hoffman Estates Police Department, U.S. Army, and U.S. Marine Corps attended the Hoffman Estates High School Marching Band’s pre-game dinner during Homecoming.

Hoffman Estates High School celebrated their homecoming game with the theme of Superheroes.  The halls of the school were decorated with likenesses of Superman, Wonder Woman, Iron Man and many others.  The marching band chose to make use of the theme to honor other heroes during their traditional pre-game dinner.

H.E.L.P. (Hoffman Estates Loyal Partners) member Jeri Means came up with the idea of inviting firefighters, police, and servicemembers to the band’s dinner.

“I thought the kids should meet some real superheroes,” she said.  “It really brought out the theme of the week.”

During the dinner, students had the opportunity to eat with representatives of the Hoffman Estates Fire Department, Hoffman Estates Police Department, U.S. Army, and U.S. Marine Corps.  Near the end of the dinner, junior drum major Andrew Luzwick jumped onto a table and led the band in a cheer and applause for the band’s guests.  Fellow drum major Kaitlyn Jedrzejowski said the band enjoyed having the heroes visit the dinner.

“This was very unique,” she said.  “It’s not every day you get to eat with people who serve.”

Jedrzejowski added that the evening brought the homecoming theme to a whole new level.

Hoffman Estates ended the evening defeating Palatine 47-44.
