Township High School District 211 schools are preparing to host annual Parent Open Houses.  William Fremd, James B. Conant, Hoffman Estates, Palatine, and Schaumburg High Schools will hold Parent Open Houses on Thursday, August 29, 2019.  Parents are invited to follow shortened versions of their child’s schedule (10- to 14- minute segments) as well as take part in other special activities and events.  The District’s two alternative schools, District 211 North Campus and Higgins Education Center, also will host open houses on August 29.

Conant High School’s (700 East Cougar Trail in Hoffman Estates) Open House runs from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Parents are invited to walk their child’s schedule and meet teachers. Teachers will provide an overview of their courses and discuss their expectations. In some classrooms, parents may engage in a mini lesson to experience the course content. Parents are encouraged to visit the cafeteria during their child’s assigned lunch or study hall (Z00103) period where they can meet their child’s guidance counselor, learn about the Student Readiness Plan and enjoy treats provided by the Conant Boosters, a parent-led volunteer organization. All parents are encouraged to attend.

William Fremd High School’s (1000 South Quentin Road in Palatine) Open House will be from 7:00-9:00 p.m.  During the evening, teachers will share class expectations and curricular materials with parents.  Beginning at 6:00 p.m., technology staff will be available in the Library to assist parents with connecting their mobile devices with their child’s attendance, grades, and classroom Schoology page.  Members of VAMP (Viking Advisory Mentoring Program), the Vikettes, Student Council, National Honor Society, the Fremd Speech team, and Fremd Cheerleading squads will serve as guides to assist parents in locating classrooms and answering questions.  Parents are encouraged to stop by the English Department Book Fair located in the Library classroom, signup as a member of the Fremd Booster Club in the main hallway, or visit the athletic and activity fair taking place in the student cafeteria.  Additionally, the Student Services department will be in the Library presenting information on the Student Readiness Plan.

Hoffman Estates High School’s (1100 W. Higgins Road in Hoffman Estates) Parent Open House will take place from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m.  Parents will have an opportunity to meet their child’s teachers, receive a brief overview of course curriculum, and learn about student expectations and how parents can help at home.  Language translators will be available throughout the evening for those needing assistance.

Open House at Palatine High School (1111 N. Rohlwing Road in Palatine) will be from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m., and provides a wonderful opportunity to meet your child’s teachers.  For those wishing to arrive early, the PHS marching band will play outside the main entrance prior to the start of Open House (weather permitting), beginning at 6:30 p.m.  Topics teachers will discuss include: course objectives, class expectations, and curricular materials.  Members of the PHS spirit squads will serve as student guides, refreshments will be served in the student cafeteria, and Pirate Booster Club members will be on hand selling school spirit merchandise.  Additionally, childcare services will be available throughout the evening.

Schaumburg High School’s (1100 W. Schaumburg Road in Schaumburg) Open House runs from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m., with students assisting parents in finding classrooms.  Topics that teachers will be prepared to discuss with parents include course objectives, class expectations, student achievement, curricular materials, and how parents can help their children at home.  Parent questions also are welcome.  During your child’s lunch or study hall, refreshments are available in the student cafeteria.  While in the cafeteria, parents are encouraged to enjoy the music performed by the SHS student orchestra, learn about the resources offered through the Schaumburg Township District Library, and meet the parent Band Boosters.  Counselors, social workers, and school psychologists will be in the Media Center to answer questions related to academics, post-high school plans, social/emotional concerns, and the new Student Readiness Plan online tool.  You also may want to stop by the showcase to visit our Very Interested Parent (VIP) Booster Club table and learn more about the VIPs, become a member, review volunteer opportunities, and browse the spirit wear.

District 211 North Campus’ (335 E. Illinois Avenue in Palatine) Open House is scheduled for August 29, 2019 from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m.  Parents will be able to tour the facility, discuss program expectations, and ask questions of the team and the program administrator.  Within classrooms, teachers will review student progress and highlight student work.  Therapists will be available to connect with families and share programmatic information and therapeutic strategies.

The Higgins Education Center (1030 W. Higgins Road in Hoffman Estates) will host its Open House from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m.  Visitors will be able to tour the facility, meet the program administrator and teachers, and learn about their child’s program.  Staff will be on hand from all three programs: Academy-South, Adult Transition Program-South, and New Endeavors.  Parents can walk their child’s schedule and learn about program expectations and instructional material.  Refreshments will be served.
