Seven students from throughout Township High School District 211 have been added to the list of National Merit Scholarship Recipients during the second announcement. Recipients listed in the second announcement will all receive a $2,500 scholarship.
Scholars were selected by a committee of college admissions officers and high school counselors, who appraised a substantial amount of substantial amount of information submitted by both the finalist and their schools.
Those receiving a $2,500 National Merit Scholarship are:
Kevin Chen, a senior at William Fremd High School, who is considering a career in medicine. He will attend Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts beginning next year.
Bissmun Gill, a senior at William Fremd High School. She wants to pursue a career in neurology. Gill will be attending the University of Southern California next fall.
Stephanie Hu, a senior at William Fremd High School. She has decided to attend Stanford next year, where she will work towards a writing career.
Adithya Chari, a senior at James B. Conant High School who will be studying computer sciences after graduation. He has decided to attend the University of Illinois beginning next fall.
Allison Zhang, a senior at James B. Conant High School. Following college, Zhang wants to engage in an investment banking career. Zhang has chosen University of Chicago to continue her education.
Nitinshankar Subramanian, a senior at James B. Conant High School. After graduation, he will attend Duke next year, where he will work towards a career in quantitative analysis.
Edwin Suresh, a senior at Schaumburg High School. Following graduation, Suresh will attend the University of Chicago to pursue a career in applied mathematics and economics.
