Students throughout Township High School District 211 who are considering summer internships are encouraged to start speaking with their school’s career advisors soon.  The district’s internship program offers students to work with area businesses to learn skills which will benefit them in their future.

“It’s a great way for them to learn life skills and beef up college resumes while earning great experience,” said Jan Brottman, District 211 Internship Coordinator.

Brottman said students should attend the district’s College Night at Palatine High School October 11.  There, they will have the opportunity to learn more about the program as well as meet with internship hosts from previous years.  She said any employers wishing to join the program should contact her at

Lisa Small, associate superintendent for instruction for District 211, said the number of internships have tripled in the past year.  She said that is a benefit to the community.

“This really is a community outreach on the company’s end,” said Small.  “I think each year we’re going to increase our number of internships as more students understand the value of it and more businesses open their doors to welcome our kids into them.”
