Fall 2015 Continuing Education Course Registration Begins August 24
The Continuing Education course catalog is available online for Fall 2015 and offers a wide-range of courses that cater to individual’s interests and skill-building needs. Registration will begin on Aug. 24.
Continuing education has been available to community members for more than 50 years, and continues to grow. Each year, there are different courses available with several different sections to accommodate different schedules. Courses not only provide learning opportunities to the community, but also different teaching opportunities for District 211 teachers. Some can teach courses that they specialize in and in a classroom environment that is different from teaching high school students.
Course topics range from foreign language, home improvement, fitness, personal enrichment, cooking, and more. New courses this year include Advanced iPhone Tips, Chicago Ghost Stories, Young at Heart Exercise Class, as well as some varying cooking classes.
The courses are offered for a relatively low cost for adults 18 years of age or older. Although the District advertises to community members, anyone can enroll in a continuing education course. Senior Citizens that live within the District and are over the age of 62 can apply for a District 211 Gold Card that allows them to receive discounted course fees. Classes in English as a Second Language (E.S.L.) and literacy are available free of charge to all adults.
In addition, District 211 also offers high school diploma completion opportunities for residents 17 years of age or older whose education has been interrupted. There is no maximum age limit for this program. Upon completion of this program, a fully accredited District 211 diploma is awarded. Free counseling is available. To schedule an appointment, please call (847) 755-6722.
