High School District 211 Alternative Schools to Hold Graduation Ceremony on May 29

District 211 logoTownship High School District 211 will hold its 22nd-annual commencement ceremony for the District’s alternative high school programs on Thursday, May 29, at Hoffman Estates High School (1100 W. Higgins Road in Hoffman Estates), beginning at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium. Graduates from the Class of 2014 at District 211 Academy-North, Academy-South, and Alternative High School will receive their diplomas during the ceremony. Family and friends are invited to attend.

Students who attend alternative programs complete all High School District 211 graduation requirements. District 211 Academy-North and Academy-South programs are offered during the day as an alternative to the mainstream day school, while the District 211 Alternative High School offers students an opportunity to continue their high school education in the evenings.

Students who attend the Alternative High School have severed their ties from a mainstream school system due to a variety of other life choices. Some students are adults, working full-time jobs during the day; therefore, the opportunity to continue their education in the evenings is ideal.

Having alternative choices for students may make the difference between dropping out and staying in school. Pursuing their high school diploma places students on the path toward future successes in life.
