Hoffman Estates High School Theatre to perform ‘Almost, Maine’
As the Northern Lights hover in the star-filled sky above Almost, Maine, the residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. The magic of all the emotions love involves is the subject of Almost, Maine, this year’s fall production at Hoffman Estates High School.
The curtain rises at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13th , and will run each night at Hoffman Estates High School, 1100 W. Higgins Rd., on Nov. 14 and Nov. 15. Tickets are general seating and can be purchased at the door for $7. More than 80 students from all grades are participating in this show by acting on stage and in the crews of Set Design, Sound, Lighting, Props, Costumes, and Make Up.
“Almost, Maine is a wonderful mix of love stories that encompasses all types of relationships,” said Christina Ordonez, director of Almost, Maine. “When we experience love, it is a moment when we don’t know what will happen next, and this play captures those little moments. Some moments are happy and others sad, but in each the characters’ lives are changed.”
The show is directed by Ordonez and assistant directed by David Orlicz and Juan Medina. This is the first show in the Hoffman Estates High School theatre series this year, which will also include the 40th anniversary Madrigal Dinner Dec. 12 and 13, the musical Into the Woods March 6,7, 12, 13, and 14, and the play Romeo and Juliet April 24 and 25.
“Theatre allows us to tell stories that people can both relate to and learn from,” Ordonez said. “The theme of love is woven through all our shows this year, but it is shown in many different lights. It will be exciting to watch the students grow as actors and technicians throughout this season. Our audiences are in for a special treat.”
