Township High School District 211 is hosting an event to help students familiarize themselves with post-graduation options if they want to pursue art as a career.

The District 211 Art College and Career Expo is on Oct. 22 at Hoffman Estates High School from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Several college representatives and professionals in varying art fields will be in attendance to speak with District 211 students.

“We are honored to have colleges and universities represented from Canada and across the United States,” said Cynthia Surtz, Art Department chair at Hoffman Estates High School and coordinator of the District 211 Art College and Career Expo. “The programs they represent emphasize strength in the Visual Arts.”

Also attending the District 211 biennial Art College and Career Expo are highly successful professionals from careers in art fields, such as Biomedical Visualization, Fine Art Painting, Graphic Design, Global Marketing, Illustration, Industrial Design, and Photojournalism.

“As Hoffman Estates High School hosts this year’s Art Expo, we welcome parents and students from Conant, Fremd, Palatine, and Schaumburg,” Surtz said. “This is an outstanding opportunity for our students to speak to professionals in the field and representatives from schools.”

Some of the colleges that have representatives coming include: Alberta College of Art and Design, American Academy of Art, Boston School of the Fine Arts, Columbia College Chicago, Cornish College of Arts, Illinois State University, Indiana Wesleyan University, Pacific Northwest College of Art, Parsons, Pratt Institute, Rhode Island School of Design, Savannah College of Design, Washington D.C. Corcoran College of Art and Design, and more.

“We look forward to welcoming a huge crowd of enthusiastic students and parents,” Surtz said.
