ATP Open House Showcases Innovative Facility, Program

Community members, students, and staff were invited to an open house at ATP North to celebrate the opening of District 211’s new special education facility. ATP North is a new facility constructed to house the Adult Transition Program (ATP) program located on the grounds of Palatine High School. The open house took place on Aug. 19, and showcased the innovative facility to attendees. Three days a week Allison Meehan goes to work. She runs through her morning routines and makes sure she gets herself to work at the local police department on time. Allison, or “A-Team” as her coworkers call her, is always interested in learning new tasks and starts the day’s projects with a smile on her face. Her hard work and love for her community show as she enthusiastically jokes around in the office while breezing through her work. Township High School District 211 is preparing for the opening of the Higgins Education Center, the new home to several of the District’s special education programs designed to meet the needs of our students and community. The Higgins Education Center Open House and Building Dedication will take place on Sept. 3, 2015, from 4:00-7:00 p.m., at 1030 W. Higgins Rd., in Hoffman Estates. The event is open and free to the community. Hoffman Estates High School’s Adult Transition Program Helps Little City Families in a Big Way

  For the fifth year in a row, students in the Adult Transition Program (ATP) at Hoffman Estates High School collected food for those in need. The ATP students collected nonperishable food items that benefitted 30 families. After the items were collected, students of ATP South delivered the items to Little City and helped put donation baskets together.
