District 211 has a tradition to honor alumni for the service they have given to their country. Private First Class Krystal Vezzetti, a 2014 graduate of Schaumburg High School, was honored and thanked for her service by the Board of Education at its July 16 meeting. Vezzetti is the ninth alumna to be recognized for her service, and started the meeting by leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Private Stephan Bonilla, a 2015 graduate of Hoffman Estates High School, was honored and thanked for his service by the Board of Education at its June 11 meeting. Bonilla is the eighth alumnus to be recognized for his service, and started the meeting by leading the Pledge of Allegiance. District 211 recently started a new tradition to honor alumni for the service they have given to their country. Sergeant George Rivera, a 2007 graduate of Conant High School, was honored and thanked for his service by the Board of Education at its April 30 meeting. Rivera is the seventh alumnus to be recognized for his service, and started the meeting by leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Captain Tae Kim, a 2001 graduate of Fremd High School, was honored and thanked for his service by the Board of Education at its April 9 meeting. Schaumburg High School Debate Team Wins IHSA State Debate Championship

Schaumburg High School Debate Team students are celebrating a successful season and earning the title of state champions. The 2015 IHSA Debate State Congressional Championship team competed against over 200 competitors from more than 25 schools at the beginning of the tournament. After an elimination break, the competition was narrowed to 63 competitors. Only 16 students advanced to the final round and Schaumburg students were five of those finalists. Last year, District 211 presented a five-year capital improvement plan designed to support educational and extracurricular programming, provide needed facility improvements identified in a recent survey of life and safety issues, and to improve operational efficiency throughout the District. Hoffman Estates High School Alumnus and Private First Class Daniel Vazquez was honored and thanked for his service in the National Guard by the Board of Education at its Feb. 12 meeting.
