District 211 to Adopt Collegiate-Style Calendar for 2016 – 2017 Academic Year

District 211 has adopted a new school calendar to better utilize instruction time for both students and teachers. At its Jan. 15 board meeting, the Board of Education approved the school calendar for the 2016-2017 academic year, which will change the traditional calendar District 211 has used for many years to a collegiate-style calendar. Schaumburg High School Alumnus Honored for Board of Education Military Recognition

Recently, District 211 started a new tradition to honor alumni for the service they have given to their country. Schaumburg High School Alumnus and Private First Class Leon Dixon was honored and thanked for his service in the National Guard by the Board of Education at its Jan. 15 meeting. Dixon is the third alumnus to be recognized for his service and started the meeting by leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Dixon completed boot camp in August 2013. From there, he completed Advanced Individual Training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. Fremd High School Alumnus Honored for Board of Education Military Recognition

District 211 recently started a new tradition to honor alumni for the service they have given to their country. Marine Lance Corporal Grant Dunham, a 2013 graduate of Fremd High School, was honored and thanked for his service by the Board of Education at its Dec. 11 meeting. Dunham is the second alumnus to be recognized for his service, and started the meeting by leading the Pledge of Allegiance. “I knew I wanted to enter the military since I was in second grade,” Dunham said. “What initially sparked my interest was 9/11. A new tradition started for District 211 to thank graduates for the service they have given to their country. Marine Corporal Neph Ramos, a 2012 graduate of Conant High School, was honored and thanked for his military services at the start of the Board of Education meeting on Nov. 13. High School District 211 Board of Education and Teachers’ Union Ratify Four-Year Contract Agreement

At its regular meeting, the Township High School District 211 Board of Education ratified a four-year contract agreement with the District 211 Teachers’ Union.  The contract achieves a multi-year settlement that will sustain the Board’s long-term fiscal plan supporting the District’s instructional, co-curricular, and operational needs while continuing to build on the commitment to contain controllable expenditures relative to the increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI).  In late August, the Teachers’ Union voted to ratify the contract. “This agreement is the result of a negotiation process that demonstrated the pledge on behalf of ...

Conant High School Student Recognized for District 211 Brand Statement Graphic Design

District 211 art teachers searched for students interested in leaving their personal touch on District 211 history. When the new brand statement, “Extraordinary Opportunities. Innovative Teaching. Exceptional Learning.” was unveiled last spring, District art interested students were asked to develop a graphic design incorporating the new slogan. Ideas were submitted by numerous students across the District, and the graphic that was selected was designed by James B. Conant High School student Kristina Bozhanova. Kristina received Board of Education recognition for her graphic design at its April 10 meeting.

District 211 Board of Education Approves Full Implementation of One-to-One Program

As technology evolves the way individuals communicate and learn, District 211’s One-to-One Program is continuing to grow and create opportunities for its students. At its meeting on April 10, 2014, the Board of Education approved the expansion of the One-to-One Program by purchasing an additional 6,380 iPad devices for students.
