D211 Post: Concussion Awareness Seminar to Be Held December 7

As part of District 211's Community Education outreach, the district will host a second Concussion Awareness Seminar in the Schaumburg High School Auditorium (1100 W. Upcoming Community Education Sessions to Focus on SAT Exam

Starting with the 2016-2017 school year, the State of Illinois will use the SAT college entrance test as the State’s required student achievement assessment for high school students. All District 211 juniors (11th graders) will take the SAT on April 5, 2017, as part of this state-wide testing endeavor. The date of the upcoming Community Education Session has moved to Nov. 9 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The event will still be hosted at William Fremd High School, 1000 S. Quentin Rd., and will focus on student wellness, drug use and abuse, and the impact personal decisions can have for students. D211 Community Members Invited to Palatine, Schaumburg Unwanted Prescription Drug Collection Programs

Students are often challenged by social pressures to experiment with drugs and other substances. The response to these challenges can have a life-altering impact and frequently test young people’s abilities to understand long-term consequences. To raise awareness as well as help prevent young adults from participating in drug use, District 211 is partnering with local authorities. On Oct. 22, the Palatine Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will be collecting unwanted prescription drugs at the Palatine Police Headquarters, 595 N.
