Registration Still Open for 2016 D211 Fun(d) Run/Walk Race

Students, staff, parents, and community members can start preparing for a race that will support District 211 programs and schools. The District 211 Foundation will host the 2016 D211 Fun(d) 5K Run/Walk Race. The race will take place on Oct.16 in Palatine, Ill., at 8 a.m. Registration is open and individuals can sign up online until Oct. 12. The pre-race fee for adults is $30 and $15 for children 18 years old and under. Mail-in registration as well as race day registration is $30 for adults and $15 for students 18 years of age and under. D211 Foundation Launches New Website

The District 211 Foundation recently launched a new website. The new website streamlines information about Innovation Grants, scholarships, Incubator EDU, events, fundraisers and more. An upcoming event featured on the website’s homepage is the Foundation’s upcoming Fun(d) Run on October 16. Registration is now open for the event. All proceeds will go toward funds used for students and opportunities. The District 211 Foundation’s mission is to provide resources to enhance and enrich learning opportunities for the students, staff, and school community of Township High School District 211. PHS Students Earn $25,000 for Business Idea in District 211 Pitch Night Competition

Student teams from Palatine, Fremd, Conant, Schaumburg, and Hoffman Estates High Schools’ Business Incubator classes competed hard in District 211’s very first “shark tank” event. The best teams from each school were selected to compete at the District Pitch Night for real funding. The groups presented business ideas to community “sharks” for seed money to start real businesses. Palatine High School’s DeoTech, which consists of students Kosta Plevritis, Anthony Portera, Drake Roberts, and Anthony Tamras, were the winners and earned $25,000 in seed money for their company from the District 211 Foundation. D211 Innovation Grant Spotlight: HEHS’ iCompete Program

In an effort to enrich and provide learning opportunities for students, the Township High School District 211 Foundation raises funds and sponsors grants for District staff. These grants help develop innovative ideas, programs, and practices that are not funded within the regular school budget. This academic year, the Foundation has awarded 41 grants totaling more than $31,000. One program that benefitted from a 2014-2015 Innovation Grant is the Hoffman Estates High School iCompete program. However, one of the most stressful parts of planning for collegiate life is figuring out how to pay for college tuition. The District 211 Foundation offers scholarship opportunities to its students during their senior year. In an effort to fulfill its mission, the Township High School District 211 Foundation has launched an online auction that will benefit and enrich learning opportunities for students, staff, and the District 211 community.
