D211 Post: EPA Grant Aids Purchase of Additional Green Buses

Schaumburg High School Earns 2016 Energy Star Certification

Schaumburg High School has earned the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Energy Star Certification for its building. Nationally, Schaumburg High School is the second K-12 institution to receive the award in 2016. “Teamwork and energy consumption awareness are major factors that contribute to obtaining Energy Star status,” said Nicholas Jahnke, facilities engineer at District 211. “By working together to optimize energy consumption, energy costs are significantly reduced.” In 2015, 7,094 K-12, commercial, and industrial properties received the Energy Star Award 0ut of 5.5 million.
