Chuck Kennaugh Honored at HEHS Graduation for Service in Military During WWII

During Hoffman Estates High School’s graduation ceremony, a special guest was recognized in honor of a sacrifice he made to serve his country. Chuck Kennaugh, the father of an alumnus from the first HEHS graduating class, was honored during the ceremony for sacrificing his opportunity to graduate high school in place of serving in the Navy. Hoffman Estates High School hosted Dr. Samuel Betances and his wife, Dr. Laura Souder, to speak with the community about ways to help students reach their full potential on March 1. The goal of the event was to teach the necessary tools for success in education and how a community can support that. Betances is the author of Winning the Future Through Education, and the founder of Souder, Betances, and Associates, Inc. Hoffman Estates High School Hosts Weeklong Events to Celebrate Language and Words

Students at Hoffman Estates High School recently spent a week learning to appreciate the power of words. The entire student body at Hoffman Estates High School participated in a “Wardrobe of Words” event, which was a weeklong celebration about the importance of words and language. Tickets Available for the Hoffman Estates Loyal Parents (H.E.L.P.) 6th Annual Trivia/Game Night

Tickets are now on sale for a night full of trivia that will benefit Hoffman Estates High School students. The Hoffman Estates Loyal Parents (H.E.L.P.) will host its 6th Annual Trivia/Game Night from 6 to 11 p.m. on Feb. 22 at the Sears Corporate Center in Hoffman Estates.  All proceeds will benefit curricular and extra-curricular student activities at Hoffman Estates High School. Hoffman Estates High School Madrigal Troupe Wins STAR 105.5 Competition, Prepares for Annual Madrigal Dinner

The Hoffman Estates High School’s Madrigal Troupe has been busy competing and getting ready for its upcoming annual Madrigal Dinner. The group won the 2013 STAR 105.5 FM Caroling Chorus Competition that was recently held at Treetime Christmas Creations of Lake Barrington, Ill. The troupe competed against some of the area’s best high school choirs with the finale featuring presentations from HEHS, McHenry East, and McHenry West High Schools. Hoffman Estates High School’s First ‘Hu-Hu-Huge Food Drive’ Surpasses Initial Goal

For 10 days, students at Hoffman Estates High School joined together for a common cause – making sure local families have food to eat during the holiday season. Students donated more than 13,000 food items to benefit the Schaumburg Food Pantry, Blessings in a Backpack, and the HEHS Food Pantry. The food items were displayed to the school during a pep assembly on Nov. 28, where the total number of donated items was unveiled. “This was to raise excitement in the school and express what the bigger meaning of donating is,” said Tony Ganas, dean of Students, Special Education teacher, and wrestling coach at Hoffman Estates High School. ...
