D211 Post: District 211 Adds Solar Panels to Energy Efficiency

            For many years, Township High School District 211 has been improving its overall energy efficiency.  The District has transitioned light fixtures from traditional florescent to LED lighting during various renovations, and it has recently begun adding alternative fuel propane buses to the District’s 160-plus vehicle fleet.  Now, the District can add solar power to its green initiative.  On February 28, the District will activate solar panels that have been installed on the roof of the Higgins Education Center.         ...

Schools throughout District 211 are planning their annual community Halloween activities.              The festivities begin on Oct. 24, when the Higgins Education Center will host a “Trunk or Treat,” from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. The community is invited to enjoy treats, activities and learn about various programs and services offered by Partners for Our Community. Community Members Invited to Upcoming Halloween Trunk or Treat Event at Higgins Education Center

Community members are invited to a Halloween-themed event that not only allows children to “trick or treat,” but also provides valuable information about community resources. This year’s Halloween Trunk or Treat event will take place on Oct. 20 at the Higgins Education Center, 1030 W. Higgins Rd., from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The event is hosted by the Higgins Education Center in partnership with the Palatine Opportunity Center, and admission is free for both children and adults. Three days a week Allison Meehan goes to work. She runs through her morning routines and makes sure she gets herself to work at the local police department on time. Allison, or “A-Team” as her coworkers call her, is always interested in learning new tasks and starts the day’s projects with a smile on her face. The School and Community Connections Event is a resource and job fair open to all District 211 community members. The event will take place on April 6 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Higgins Education Center, 1030 W. Higgins Rd. “The resource and job fair is our commitment to coordinate community resources and engage skilled staff, service providers, and volunteers," said Jerry Treviño, District 211 director of summer school and community outreach.
