District 211 Celebrates 1 Million Meals Served This School Year

A lucky student helped High School District 211 reach an impressive milestone on May 18. As he stood in the Hoffman Estates High School cafeteria food line, little did freshman student Jett Dennis know he would be a part of the District’s food service department celebrating its 1-millionth meal served during this school year. “I was very surprised,” said Jett after the announcement during lunch. “It is nice how the school provides us with a good lunch that we can eat and enjoy every day.” Jett went to purchase his lunch when the milestone celebration kicked off. District 211 is partnering with the Schaumburg and Hoffman Estates communities to help students within those communities explore career and internship options. The Village of Schaumburg is hosting a “Career Exploration and Internship Fair” for Conant, Hoffman Estates, and Schaumburg High School students on Jan. 26 at Schaumburg High School. Many District 211 students took advantage of last night's extended media center hours to study for finals. As a reminder, all District 211 schools will have extended media center hours to provide students with a quiet space to study for finals. Read below to find out what each school is doing for its extended hours this week. PHS: Students at Palatine High School will be able to study in the library during normal hours from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Students can then study in the library and café until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 20. Hoffman Estates Loyal Partners Collecting HEHS Coat Drive Donations

Hoffman Estates Loyal Partners (H.E.L.P.) is hosting a coat drive to benefit the Hoffman Estates larger community. H.E.L.P. is interested in collecting new and gently used coats, scarves, and gloves in sizes ranging from toddler to adult. Individuals can donate to the coat drive until January 31, 2017. Ever since she could remember, Palatine High School Senior Vivian Liu wanted to learn more about engineering. Her father, an electrical engineer, would come home and continue working on complex projects as she watched.
