A District 211 teacher is a finalist for a prestigious Golden Apple Award, which recognizes teachers’ contributions to building a better-educated and strong society through the art of excellent teaching. Mark Hibner, Applied Technology teacher at Palatine High School, was nominated for a Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching. District 211 students had the opportunity to introduce industry leaders to Palatine High School’s Manufacturing program, as well as demonstrate valuable skills they have learned that can help them secure a job after high school. President and CEO of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Jay Timmons and members of the Illinois Manufacturers Association (IMA) visited students at Palatine High School on Feb. 3 to discuss the importance of a career in manufacturing. Two Palatine High School Students Introduce Manufacturing Program in Springfield

In an effort to promote college and career readiness among high school graduates, two Palatine High School students had the opportunity to speak about a District 211 program that prepares students for their futures. Palatine High School juniors Gabriela Alvarado and Luis Miranda attended the 2015 60 by 25 Network Annual Meeting on Jan. 26 in Springfield, Ill. New during the 2013-2014 school year is the manufacturing program.
