District 211 Jazz Bands Find Success at Northshore Jazz Festival

District 211 bands were well represented at a recent jazz festival. The Fremd High School Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combo, and Jazz Lab Band recently performed at the 39th Annual North Shore Jazz Festival at Glenbrook South High School. Additionally, top jazz bands from Palatine, Conant, and Schaumburg High Schools received “Division 1/Superior” ratings. “We are very proud of our three ensembles that performed at the Northshore Jazz Festival,” said Matthew Moore, band director at Fremd High School. “The students in our Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Lab Band, and Jazz Combo worked hard to prepare a wide variety of jazz music and styles.” ...

Fremd Wind Symphony Snags Several Division 1/Superior Ratings in April

The Fremd Wind Symphony was busy performing their way to success this April. The band was recognized for their performances at the Chicagoland Invitational Concert Band Festival hosted by Hersey High School, and the Illinois State University State of Illinois Invitational Concert Band Contest held at the ISU Center for the Performing Arts. Fremd, Schaumburg, Palatine, Conant High Schools All Reach Success at Northshore Jazz Festival

For the 13th consecutive year, the Jazz Ensemble at Fremd High School was awarded a “Division 1/Superior” rating by collegiate-level judges during a jazz festival. The Fremd Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab Band recently performed at the 37th annual Northshore Jazz Festival at Glenbrook South High School on Jan. 25.  The Jazz Ensemble was awarded a “Division 1/Superior” rating by three collegiate judges in the top band division, and the Jazz Lab Band was also awarded a “Division 1/Superior” rating in the second band division.  Each band also participated in an educational clinic with a collegiate and professional jazz band director. ...

Fremd High School Band Performs in Florida During Winter Break

Band students from William Fremd High School had the opportunity to perform in Florida during their winter break the last week of December. 115 students from the band program performed in Tampa and Orlando, Fla.  The Fremd "Florida Band" consisted of freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors enrolled in the school's four symphonic bands.  Band Director Matthew Moore and eleven parent chaperones accompanied the students on the trip. FHS Symphony Band Earns Top Honors

The Fremd High School Wind Symphony recently earned top honors and first place of the 6A Division at the "State of Illinois Concert Band Contest" hosted by Illinois State University on Saturday April 28. The band received straight "Superior/Division 1" ratings from all three collegiate judges representing the University of Illinois, University of Kentucky, and Bowling Green State University. The band also was awarded the fourth-highest point total out of 24 bands participating in the two-day festival.
