Three Student-Built Homes for Sale from District 211 Building Construction Program

Students in District 211’s Building Construction program are in the final stages of completing three houses they have worked on for the past two years. District 211 will host an Open House for students to showcase their hard work and allow the public to see the homes that are up for sale. Annual Entrepreneurship Day Approaches, Several Students to Attend

District 211 students will have the opportunity to join other students from District 214 and Barrington High School to learn about running and starting a business from experienced and successful entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurship Day is sponsored by Northern Illinois University’s School of Business and the Coleman Foundation, and is on Nov. 16 at the NIU campus in Hoffman Estates. Student’s Progress in Building Construction Program

For more than 30 years, District 211 students have participated in a program where they have the opportunity to construct homes in surrounding communities. The Building Construction Program provides a unique experience where District 211 students learn about various aspects of building a single-family house, including how to read blueprints, what the architecture and construction fields are like, and other marketable skills for after-graduation career opportunities. That is the mission behind the Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!), a program that takes high school students through the process of starting and running a real business during the course of an academic year.
