District 211 Summer Construction Update
During the summer months, facility improvements are made across the District. Summer provides a perfect time for facility improvements because classrooms are generally empty and summer school locations are determined partly around building improvement plans.
Here are some updates on what the District is currently working on for the 2016-2017 school year.
During the 2016 – 2017 school year, each school will undergo upgrades to its camera and security system, as well as completing installation of exterior LED lighting upgrades.
Palatine High School: The Adult Transitions Program (ATP) North building, which is being constructed on the northeast side of Palatine High School, will be completed in August and ready for the first day of school. Building construction students and District 211 central maintenance staff will have completed most of the 5,000 square foot building. The new media center is scheduled for completion by Thanksgiving. The parking lot front drive will be reconfigured and repaved by the time school starts in the fall. Pool renovations continue at PHS with a tentative completion date scheduled for late 2016 or early 2017.
Hoffman Estates High School and Life Safety work: Hoffman Estates High School is undergoing the most work this summer. Life Safety Work at HEHS includes domestic water piping, doors, frames, and glazing and roof replacement. Additionally, two new chiller units will be installed.
Conant High School: There will be work completed on the student pick up and drop off area in the parking lot on Cougar Trail.
