Meet SHS’ New Head Baseball Coach, Calvin Seely
Schaumburg High School has named its new head baseball coach. Mr. Calvin Seely will take over the responsibilities of the Saxon baseball program following the retirement of 600-plus game winner Paul Groot at the end of this season.
“We are very excited to have Cal leading our baseball program at Schaumburg High School,” said athletic director Tim Kirby. “He relates well with both student-athletes and parents alike. He’s familiar with the school, having coached here at the sophomore level for a season. His enthusiasm, energy, and experience make him a perfect fit for this job.”
Seely served as the sophomore head baseball coach since last August when he came to the school as a social studies teacher. Before teaching at SHS, he spent five years teaching and coaching at Hoffman Estates High School.
He earned his bachelor of science degree in social studies from Illinois State University, graduating summa cum laude in 2006. In 2011, he received his master of arts degree in teaching United States history from the University of Illinois-Chicago. He is currently completing his work on English as a Second Language (ESL) certification from National Louis University.
