But that’s exactly what students at Schaumburg High School did as they debated their way to victory. The SHS Debate Team captured the Illinois High School Association State Debate Title during competition at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Ill., on March 16 and 17. Township High School District 211 was recognized with a "Sunny Award" from the Sunshine Review on March 8, 2012.  The award honors the most transparent government web sites in the country, and District 211 was one of 19 honorees in Illinois, which included 7 school districts.  This is the second consecutive year that District 211 has been honored with the award. “The Sunny Awards recognizes governments that are doing an exemplary job at proactively disclosing information to taxpayers,” said Michael Barnhart, president of Sunshine Review in an online posting. ...

Nineteen District 211 teachers have earned national certification through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. This is the highest professional credential in the field of teaching. With the addition of these 19 teachers, High School District 211 now has had 121 teachers earn national certification, fourth most among school districts in Illinois. District 211 to Discontinue Class Rank

At its Dec. 8, 2011 meeting, the Board of Education approved the recommendation of a District committee to discontinue the practice of ranking students based upon grade point average.  The committee's recommendation is based upon a growing national trend among high schools to eliminate this practice because few, if any, colleges or universities continue to use class rank as a determining factor in the admissions process.
