K-9 Units Search D211 Schools, Deter Drug Possession
Combating and deterring illegal drug possession within a high school is a problem that school districts often face. In an effort to discourage students from drug violations, High School District 211 has partnered with Hoffman Estates, Schaumburg, and Palatine police departments to use police dogs to search for drugs on campus.
The searches began at the start of the 2011-2012 school year, with police dogs checking student lockers within the school. Now, the District is planning to expand its searches to include student parking lots, as well.

Bob Bregy, former High School District 211 mail room supervisor and now retiree, was the March 2012 recipient of Northwest Suburban Special Education Organization's Shining Star Award. He was recognized for going above and beyond in his role as a community partner at a NSSEO work experience site. Bregy has welcomed District 211 students who attend Kirk School into the Administration Center mail room throughout the past three years. Upcoming District 211 Honors Choir Concert
The best singers from Township High School District 211 will combine their voices for the 211 Honors Choir concert on Saturday, April 14 at Holy Family Church in Inverness. One hundred vocalists from Conant, Fremd, Hoffman Estates, Palatine and Schaumburg High Schools will perform under the direction of Cheryl Frazes Hill, director of Music Education and director of Choral Activities at Chicago College of Performing Arts. Dr. Frazes also holds the position of associate conductor of the Chicago Symphony Chorus.

Every academic year, there are four days known as institute days. For students, this is simply a day where there is no school, but for District 211 teachers it’s the complete opposite. What is the reason for an institute day if teachers are at school, but students aren’t?

HEHS Donates, Reads Books to Children at Literacy Academy
Elementary students at John Muir Literacy Academy were surprised as the Hoffman Estates High School Hawk mascot walked in to classrooms, excitedly waving and promoting literacy while several high school students read books to children. His guest appearance and readings were part of a book drive hosted by HEHS on March 23. More than 1,200 books were donated to the school from faculty and students.

More than 170 students and faculty at Schaumburg High School participated in the annual St. Baldrick's event by raising funds for children's cancer research and shaving their heads at a pep assembly on March 22. SHS raised more than $103,000 for the organization this year.
