Students at Palatine High School made holiday cards for a PHS alumnus, Juan Medellin, who is currently serving in the United States Marine Corps. Just in time for the holidays, students received a message back from Medellin with a photo. The message read:

I received your package this last Friday and was amazed of the amount of cards I received. This whole weekend I went around the barracks and gave some away to Marines that aren’t visiting family for the Holidays. A lot of Marines just came back from Battalion Field Exercises and were sad or exhausted. These cards brought up our morale and most Marines got a smile from them. I’m extremely grateful for the package and even little things go a long way. Please thank every student in your homeroom’s for taking time to write them.
