Hoops for Hope Proceeds Presented to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

As a result of the Hoops for Hope event hosted by Fremd and Palatine High Schools, students presented the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation with a check for $2,600 raised by the event at the beginning of the year. The presentation was held at PHS on May 24. The Hoops for Hope event was created in the memory of Brian Larsen, a FHS student and Palatine native who passed away on Nov. 21, 2011 from Cystic Fibrosis. Orange T-shirts were sold to raise money during a basketball game. Students from each school expressed the importance of being part of this event and giving back to the organization. Hoops for Hope

Collaboration is color blind, and for two cross-town basketball games neither green nor red prevailed. William Fremd and Palatine High Schools teamed up to raise awareness of Cystic Fibrosis through an event called Hoops for Hope on Jan. 27. Students and staff from both schools purchased orange t-shirts to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. “I think this event really serves as a testament to the strength of our community,” said Melissa Poczatek, Student Council president at Palatine High School.
