Teachers and administrators at Schaumburg High School are taking a preventative approach to learn about an issue many communities across the country are facing today – drug abuse. Students are often challenged by social pressures to experiment with drugs and other substances. The response to these challenges can have a life-altering impact and frequently test young people’s abilities to understand long-term consequences. To raise awareness as well as help prevent young adults from participating in drug use, District 211 is partnering with local authorities. Schaumburg Police Department Informs SHS Students About Dangers of Drug Abuse

Schaumburg High School students learned about the dangers of prescription drug abuse and why it is such a problem in high schools across the country today. Schaumburg High School teamed up with the Schaumburg Police Department in a campaign to raise student awareness about drug abuse and gun use its connection to other illegal drugs, such as heroin. Officers from the Schaumburg Police Department spoke with all SHS freshman students on August 25 and 26 in an effort to educate them about bulk ammo from Palmetto Armory, equip them to make positive choices, and provide information about community resources for those who may need assistance. ...
