Nearly 200 parents, students, and community members gathered in the auditorium at James B. Conant High School, May 15, for the third annual District 211 Pitch Night. During the evening, teams from throughout the District pitched business ideas and products to a panel of area business leaders with the intention of gaining funding. Students from throughout Township High School 211 will gather at James B. Conant High School’s auditorium May 15, to participate in the District’s annual “Pitch Night.” This year's event will begin at 6:00 p.m. During the evening teams from the schools’ Business programs will pitch their ideas to a panel of investors in the hopes of winning start-up funds.

Three Palatine High School Business Incubator students, Phoebe Domanus, Gianna Valero, and Anushri Gupta, presented their business design for Nail Bubs, protective covers for freshly painted nails, to the Palatine Chamber of Commerce Women in Business Advisory Forum (WIBAF) during the organization’s monthly meeting held at Palatine High School, Feb. 13.
Business teacher Adrienne Stewart said having the programs only all-female team present to the forum was part of a plan to show students what it’s like to be a woman entrepreneur.

Student teams from Palatine, Fremd, Conant, Schaumburg, and Hoffman Estates High Schools’ Business Incubator classes competed hard in District 211’s very first “shark tank” event.
The best teams from each school were selected to compete at the District Pitch Night for real funding. The groups presented business ideas to community “sharks” for seed money to start real businesses. Palatine High School’s DeoTech, which consists of students Kosta Plevritis, Anthony Portera, Drake Roberts, and Anthony Tamras, were the winners and earned $25,000 in seed money for their company from the District 211 Foundation.

Student teams from Palatine, Fremd, Conant, Schaumburg, and Hoffman Estates High Schools' Business Incubator classes have worked all year to develop a viable business idea. Now they will present their business ideas to community “sharks” for seed money to start real businesses.
The best teams from each school are selected to compete at the District Pitch Night for real funding. All students, parents, and community members are welcome to attend on May 23 at 6:00 p.m., in the Conant High School auditorium, 700 E. Cougar Trail.

Incubator class offers SHS students real life opportunity

For the first time this year, Schaumburg high school has given students the unique opportunity of participating in a business incubator class. This class is laid out to give students a taste of true entrepreneurship and give them an idea of how to be successful in creating their own product or service.
