Upcoming Event: SHS Night of Percussion

The percussion studio at Schaumburg High School will present "Take That," their annual Night of Percussion on April 30 at 7 p.m. The concert will feature all four percussion ensembles, SaxonSTOMP, the System Red Drumline, and several percussion soloists. Students will be performing on everything from drums to basketballs. "This concert is always fun because there are so many surprises," said Kevin Miller, SHS music department chair and band director.  There will be a wide variety of styles performed including: traditional Mexican marimba music, avant-garde percussion, and indoor drumline. Upcoming District 211 Honors Choir Concert

The best singers from Township High School District 211 will combine their voices for the 211 Honors Choir concert on Saturday, April 14 at Holy Family Church in Inverness. One hundred vocalists from Conant, Fremd, Hoffman Estates, Palatine and Schaumburg High Schools will perform under the direction of Cheryl Frazes Hill, director of Music Education and director of Choral Activities at Chicago College of Performing Arts. When arguing points about pressing issues, such as politics or foreign policy, it’s not often students imagine creating history at their school. But that’s exactly what students at Schaumburg High School did as they debated their way to victory. The SHS Debate Team captured the Illinois High School Association State Debate Title during competition at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Ill., on March 16 and 17. Nineteen District 211 teachers have earned national certification through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. This is the highest professional credential in the field of teaching. With the addition of these 19 teachers, High School District 211 now has had 121 teachers earn national certification, fourth most among school districts in Illinois.
